Huch, wieder arbeiten

Als im Oktober und Anfang November noch die Vorbereitungen für das Barcamp liefen, dachte ich, danach und der Dezember wird ruhig. Es kam überraschend eine Veränderung. Zu tun gibt es wohl immer was.

Vor 3 ½ Wochen, Ende November 2017 bekam ich eine Nachricht von einer Person, die ich im Sommer beim Co-Working Space in Düren kennengelernt habe. “Matthias, guck mal, das könnte interessant für dich sein.” In Aachen suchte ein Verein für Fortbildungen im künstlerischen Bereich einen Systemadmin für 10 Stunden im Monat. Vom Zeitlichen genau, was ich suchte, um etwas dazu verdienen zu können, ähnlich wie in der Werkstatt, vom Zeitumfang aber effizienter. Ich rief an, es ging dann Schritt für Schritt weiter. Telefonat, Vorstellungsgespräch, Probearbeit ab 4. Dezember 2017.

Somit öffnete sich eine Gelegenheit und ich arbeite wieder, nachdem ich vor 1 ¾ Jahr die Werkstatt verlassen hatte. In dem Gespräch konnte ich mich darstellen, ja, ich war mal sehr krank, erlebte jedoch Genesung und weiß, worauf zu achten ist. Um den Quereinstieg als Systemadmin zu schaffen, war es genau richtig, was ich seit Jahren ehrenamtlich gemacht habe. Serveradministration für Dienste und Webanwendungen und Hosten von CMS, da hatte ich die letzten zehn Jahre was aufgebaut, worauf ich nun referenzieren kann.

Die Leute und der Ort selbst empfand ich beim ersten Treffen dort sehr angenehm. Ich bin sehr froh, mich von Anfang an nicht verstellen zu müssen und einfach ich selbst sein kann. So begann der erste Arbeitstag ohne Anspannung. Die ersten Aufgaben konnten gut erledigt werden. Natürlich werde ich die nächste Zeit mir alles genau angucken und die Dokumentation lesen, wie das vorher alles eingerichtet wurde. Ich vertraue darauf, was ich seit über 27 Jahren alles gelernt und angewendet habe. Die Probezeit wird zeigen, ob das alles passt.

Und urplötzlich habe ich nun die Chance, mich beruflich als Systemadministrator*in behaupten zu können. Somit geht es 2018 weiter, ich freue mich.

Oops, Working Again

When the preparations for the Barcamp were still underway in October and early November, I thought that things would calm down afterwards and in December. But then a change came unexpectedly. There is always something to do. 3 ½ weeks ago, at the end of November 2017, I received a message from someone I met in the summer at the co-working space in Düren. “Matthias, take a look, this might be interesting for you.” An association in Aachen, which offers further training in the artistic field, was looking for a system administrator for 10 hours a month. In terms of time, it was exactly what I was looking for to earn a little extra money, similar to the workshop, but more efficient in terms of time. I called, and things moved forward step by step. Phone call, interview, trial work starting on December 4, 2017. Thus, an opportunity opened up, and I am working again after leaving the workshop 1 ¾ years ago. In the conversation, I was able to present myself, yes, I was very ill, but I experienced recovery and know what to watch out for. To make the career change as a system administrator, it was exactly right that I had been doing this on a voluntary basis for years. Server administration for services and web applications and hosting CMS, I had built up something in the last ten years that I can now refer to. I found the people and the place itself very pleasant during the first meeting. I am very happy that I don't have to pretend to be someone else from the beginning and can simply be myself. This is how the first day of work began without tension. The first tasks could be done well. Of course, I will carefully examine everything in the coming time and read the documentation to see how everything was set up before. I trust that what I have learned and applied over the past 27 years will work. The probationary period will show whether it all fits. And suddenly, I have the chance to establish myself professionally as a system administrator. So, 2018 will continue; I'm looking forward to it.

¡Vaya, otra vez a trabajar!

Cuando a finales de octubre y principios de noviembre todavía estábamos preparando el Barcamp, pensé que después y en diciembre todo estaría tranquilo. Pero se produjo un cambio inesperado. Siempre hay algo que hacer. Hace 3 semanas y media, a finales de noviembre de 2017, recibí un mensaje de una persona a la que conocí en el espacio de coworking de Düren en verano. “Matthias, mira, esto podría interesarte”. En Aquisgrán, una asociación que ofrece cursos de formación en el ámbito artístico estaba buscando un administrador de sistemas para 10 horas al mes. En cuanto a los horarios, encajaba perfectamente con lo que buscaba para ganar algo de dinero, de forma similar a como lo hacía en el taller, pero con un horario más eficiente. Llamé y todo siguió su curso. Conversación telefónica, entrevista de trabajo, prueba a partir del 4 de diciembre de 2017. Así se abrió una oportunidad y volví a trabajar, después de haber dejado el taller hace 1 año y medio. En la conversación, pude presentarme, sí, estuve muy enfermo, pero experimenté la recuperación y sé a qué debo prestar atención. Para lograr una transición a un trabajo como administrador de sistemas, fue justo lo que he estado haciendo de forma voluntaria durante años. Administración de servidores para servicios y aplicaciones web, y alojamiento de CMS, había construido algo en esto durante los últimos diez años, y ahora puedo referirme a ello. Me parecieron muy agradables las personas y el lugar en sí mismo en el primer encuentro. Estoy muy contento de no tener que fingir desde el principio y simplemente poder ser yo mismo. Así empezó el primer día de trabajo sin tensión. Pude realizar bien las primeras tareas. Por supuesto, en el próximo período de tiempo, revisaré todo cuidadosamente y leeré la documentación para ver cómo se configuró todo antes. Confío en lo que he aprendido y aplicado durante más de 27 años. El período de prueba mostrará si todo encaja. Y de repente, tengo la oportunidad de demostrar mi valía profesionalmente como administrador de sistemas. Así que 2018 seguirá adelante, y estoy emocionado.

Oh, travailler à nouveau

Alors que les préparatifs pour le Barcamp étaient en cours en octobre et début novembre, je pensais que décembre serait calme. Mais un changement inattendu s'est produit. Il y a toujours quelque chose à faire.

Il y a 3 semaines et demie, à la fin novembre 2017, j'ai reçu un message d'une personne que j'avais rencontrée à l'espace de coworking de Düren pendant l'été. “Matthias, regarde ça, ça pourrait t'intéresser”. À Aix-la-Chapelle, une association proposant des formations dans le domaine artistique recherchait un administrateur système pour 10 heures par mois. Le temps correspondait exactement à ce que je recherchais pour gagner un peu d'argent, comme à l'atelier, mais de manière plus efficace en termes de temps. J'ai appelé, et les choses se sont enchaînées. Appel téléphonique, entretien, période d'essai à partir du 4 décembre 2017.

Ainsi, une opportunité s'est présentée et je travaille à nouveau, après avoir quitté l'atelier il y a un an et trois quarts. Lors de l'entretien, j'ai pu me présenter : oui, j'ai été très malade, mais j'ai vécu une guérison et je sais sur quoi faire attention. Pour réussir cette transition vers un poste d'administrateur système, c'était exactement ce qu'il fallait, ce que j'avais fait bénévolement pendant des années. Administration de serveurs pour des services et des applications web, et hébergement de CMS, j'avais mis en place quelque chose au cours des dix dernières années sur lequel je pouvais désormais m'appuyer.

J'ai trouvé que les gens et le lieu lui-même étaient très agréables lors de ma première rencontre. Je suis très heureux de ne pas avoir à faire semblant et de pouvoir simplement être moi-même. C'est ainsi que ma première journée de travail a commencé sans stress. J'ai pu accomplir les premières tâches avec succès. Bien sûr, je vais examiner attentivement tout pendant un certain temps et lire la documentation pour voir comment tout a été mis en place. Je suis confiant dans ce que j'ai appris et mis en pratique au cours des 27 dernières années. La période d'essai me dira si tout convient.

Et soudain, j'ai la chance de pouvoir m'épanouir professionnellement en tant qu'administrateur système. Ainsi, 2018 continue, et j'en suis ravi.
